Be Kind To HumanKind Week
August 25-31 is a week-long opportunity to perform acts of kindness and compassion and to inspire others to do the same. In 1988, Lorraine Jara, a teacher and humanitarian, founded Be Kind to Humankind Week. Lorraine believed in the transformative power of kindness and wanted to create an opportunity for people everywhere to focus on acts of kindness and generosity.
Here are a few ways you can make a positive impact:
- Touch a Heart
Tell a family member or friend that you are glad to have them in your life. - Practice Patience
Slow down your pace so you can hold a door open for someone slowly approaching. - Lend a Hand or an Ear
Offer to run an errand for a neighbor or take time to ask someone about their week, and really listen and compliment them on something they’ve done. - Be Thoughtful
Leave a post-it-note on someone’s desk or door to wish them a beautiful day. - Donate a Dollar or Two
Think about the causes you believe in, and do a quick online search to find a nonprofit that supports your cause. Hit the donate button! - Speak Kind Words
No one ever gets tired of hearing you say “I really appreciate you.”
